About SailPDF

SailPDF is built and maintained by Joy Biswas. It exists because most online PDF tools ask you to upload the document you are trying to protect, then monetise the result with ads and a subscription.

Why browser-first

Every tool that can run on your device does. Merging, splitting, rotating, cropping, compressing and converting images all happen inside the browser tab: the file is read, changed and downloaded without ever being sent anywhere.

This is not a marketing position. It is why the tools have no upload limit, no queue, and no account: there is no server to pay for, and nothing to store.

What that costs

Two things. First, formats that need a full office engine — Word, Excel, PowerPoint — cannot run in a browser reasonably, so those tools are server-side and say so on the page.

Second, browser memory is the limit. A 400 MB merge will not work on a phone, and the tool tells you that instead of failing silently.

How it is funded

Display advertising. No subscription, no watermark, no export limit. Two pages — Protect and Unlock — carry no ads at all, because the browser isolation their encryption needs would block third-party scripts anyway.
